Holding the Bag
Submitted by mike on Thu, 01/27/2005 - 14:12
I'm ready to move on this, which may be the last scene prior to Teshnos.
Do you:
- go directly to the Yelorna Temple (to say what?)
Send a messenger (with what message?)
Send a written message (with what message?)
Send an assassin
Go home and discuss this for four days
Open the Bag
Have Senech swallow the bag
toss the bag in a dung heap
?
Re:holding the bag
Garusharp says excuse me and leaves the Rass home in search of the Teshnan cook that old man Rass spoke of...so he is out of the discussion about the bag.
Holding the Bag
Speth is unsure of who this person is and how this action could affect the family. She is is also still wary of angering another group in exchange for Rassa's freedom. But she is willing to accompany a party (in case the talking end's and the fightin' begins) to 'drop off' the bag if the wise elders of the family decide that this is the best course of action. Glancing coldly at Rassa she says (again) "You better be worth the trouble, clay man..."
Will's Reasoning
Greetings,
Will has decided against the spirit of the promise and the wisdom of neutrality, and accepted the request to deliver the leather bag of malevolent hatred to Darran Skystrider. Will explains to Speth that Darran is a person who the Black & Ivory Cavalry tried to capture from the Unicorn Riding Maidens of Pavis(Yalornans) and how Rass interferrence caused us to become known to this Lunar power group. Will believes that he can find a way to deliver the bag and yet prevent harming Darran by either helping fight against the threat or even capturing it after it is released and using it ourselves. Some analysis and preparation on our part should allow for a positive outcome. There is another possible ploy: If Darran wants to create the impression of being harmed and his ritual disrupted - that could throw the Lunars off his trail and favor our way.

Holding the Bag
Ever the bitch and perhaps rather harshly Speth does little to conceal her scorn.
"Well of course..while we're at it let us launch fireballs from our arses and kill every lunar in the city..then we can raise the dead and jump over the moon..easy as pie!"
"Surely the Lunar captain will see through any weak attempts of trickery..either Darran will be affected or he won't be..it's our necks on the line. Skuldruggery and subterfuge be damned! I say we either chose get in bed with the lunars and Doom Darran to whatever they have in mind OR ally with Darran and face the lunar captain head on. Perhaps we can just kill the lunar..."
Plans
Greetings,
That is Speth's voice (Naval Gazing). I awoke at 2:35 AM on 2/3/5 with these ideas about the campaign. 1)At some point (before or after the ritual of hope we can spy on and/or eliminate the known Lunar spies as they meet in the rubble. 2) Analyze the contents of the leather bag using awareness skills. 3) prepare for the ceremony (like Speth). Will can use his awareness to understand the process and harmony to fit in (be in sync) once we arrive. City Authority and Defend the People to oppose the threat from the "revealed enemy" plus praying to Pavis and sacrificing valuable food to gain augments that Will can use to help the Yalornans and Darran succeed even while he completes his part of the bargain with Vrimark Trovithu.

ramblings
oshun: "it appears I am still ingorant concerning the ways and means of Heroquesting. we must not stray from the part we play, but we play parts in stories we don't know. Heroquests end, but they continue in the mundane world. Should we not be asking our allies for support in this venture, which we are told has great portent for all nations? If indeed so, would not the Lunars themselves become the opposing force to the quest's success? All we have are holed up Yelornans, fugitive Dara Happan star worshippers, and us, the Rass, being pulled in all directions at once. I tire of following the script others want us to play...if we are to be supporters in the ritual of hope, let us come with GREAT SUPPORT...the support of clans, tribes, cities, nations. Let us call amongst the Flintnail whom we assisted...upon the Pavis High brows who have the strings from our success...upon the Joraz Kyrem and Zebra tribe of my own blood and faith...upon the Pavis survivors who stand to gain fruitful bounty from our labors. Time may indeed be short, but hope is long and wide."
Oh boy
Garusharp repeats... They said not to come too soon and NOT to do more then is our part. They were very serious about that. Oshun I can understand the fact that you want to make a great display but what I understood from them was do not interfere in their rituals. They are willing to have us bring the horrible bag but we should do so with subdltey.
I know I am, but what are you?
ahh, good stuff!
Oshun replies "Then it is good that we come in the dark, cause that is where I am with this, in the dark. What IS our part? And why cannot we get the greatest support for OUR part? I fear....no...I am reluctant, to go into a ritual of this signficance without knowing what it is about. Unfortunately, since we were played as pawns so brilliantly I understand we may have no choice but to stumble upon victory blind and with only our faith to preseve us. You will have to teach me the ways of subtlety Garusharp, for I am not a great spy like you are, and Impatience blossoms in me. Too many times our enemies have planned more skillfully than us (shall I remind us of the Vrimon coming in with a hero glow whilst we sat mundanely waiting for him?) Constantly surviving by the skin of one's loins is no way for a Khan to live."
You can see the strain in the corner of Oshun's eyes. He is restless, constantly in a pondering mode, wondering when he will get the time to fulfill other requirements...war band, spirit cleansings, Joraz Kyrem worship, Zebra Tribe affairs. Ohhhh the Drama!!! :-)
Re: ramblings
The queen in exile heroquests. Daran and company support that.
Their effects continue. The participants' perceptions shift.
"Nations" not "all nations."
This seems certain. Which makes Daran's presence in the center of this--as a Dara Happan--seem stranger and stranger.
Keep in mind--YOU are being asked to support people who are supporting Kallyr. Not to heroquest yourselves. And do you think this is the only place and you are the only people who are doing similar things to help the queen? When, apparently, everything Daran does is in support of a single station on her quest?
You have 3 or 4 days and need to do it without alerting the government. I'll warn you that this is a hard sell, since you can't really explain what's going on or who is doing it. I"m all ears to a line of persuasion that contains facts differing from "Please help us do something very illegal in an ambiguous moral situation that we hope to trick our way out of by delivering and then destroying something extraordinarily dangerous into a ritual done by people we don't really know in support of a person we can't name questing for something unknown to us but very very very dangerous."
Re: ramblings
I'm sure Senech has some comment about "long and wide" to insert here.
illogical
Ok Mike is saying that we are doing something illegal we are not sure about. Garusharp would disagree with that. He was told to attack the Lunars 2 different times so to him there is no moral dilema in what is happening...Lunars are like the Broo, they are the enemy and anything done to offend them is a good thing. The Lunars are occupiers and should be hurt and annoyed at every possible moment. Garusharp's only concern is with how long it would take a guerilla war to force out the Lunars. Wil has become the champian of the people he needs to lead them. If this forth part has the characters so noticed maybe it is time to be noticed.
satan, I rebuke thee!!
"...Please help us do something very illegal in an ambiguous moral situation that we hope to trick our way out of by delivering...yada yada"
You think presenting something with logic and rationale matters to us? Ha! foolish mortal. By the way, I don't think we're trying to trick our way out of something. The Vrimark said deliver the bag and its contents. Which is a pretty nifty thing he gets since it was us who prevented him from getting to Darran in the first place. I also understand that support would be very difficult to get from everybody, but there are those who would gain advantage from our success in this. Oshun remembers the support we got for the Wedding (the ingilli seem to be showing their feathers don't they?) My main worry was indeed the time. Just thinking of what we could do here.
I (Brian) misunderstood our part...I thought we were actually going to go on a heroquest, even though we had a very specific part. Now, Oshun ain't having it...by Joraz, he smells a heroquest coming. I also believe what we are doing is very illegal. Helping out exiles and going up against Lunars is surely gonna land us in the pokey. But I agree, we could care less morally. If Garusharp keeps up this attitude, he's never gonna make it back to Teshnos!
