A new matter for discussion--how does Garusharp want to get back home?
A long, dry, windblown overland trek through the chaos-ravaged Wastes, with a potential visit to his buddy the White Bull?
A leisurely downriver trip to the Lunar port of Corflu, followed by days of waiting around trying to find a ship heading east, then the wild excitement of dodging Melibi pirates and Amazon raiders?
Something else?

easy answer...
Have to see White Bull!
He needs to know what is happening around the Pavis area.
Character options
Since Garusharp intends to cross the Wastes, then there are options for one-off characters to be Praxians of any kind, as well as for them to be Teshnans.
So you could run a:
Animal Nomad from any of the Great or Lesser Tribes (Antelope, Sable, Rhino, Bison, Morokanth, Llama, Bolo Lizard, Ostrich)
Basmoli Berserker--they worship Basmol, the lion god and hunt the wastes
Agimor--the Men and a Half, long, enduring, proud hunters who barely drink water and suffer when the temperature drops below 40.
Pentan--that far south, any pentan would be a slave escaped or purchased from Praxians. But pentans are Glorantha's Mongolians.
Pavisite--the Desert Trackers from the Issaries are the foreigners most knowledgeable about crossing the Wastes.
Sun Domer--stuffy hoplites from an insular community south of Pavis.
And at the risk of giving something away, it is not impossible for some Teshnans to be in Pavis at this moment. It's all about the backstory.
So far only Jon has begun the process of creating a description. Please get started!
Crossing the Wastes
By the way, I predict the trip across the Wastes will go like this:
{(# of New Heroes from the wastes) + (1 visit to White Bull - failures finding out where he is) + (1 attack by Jaldonites x levels of failures at getting out of town secretly) + (every stupid idea on the road x2) - (guide's skill -25)}= Number of sessions to cross the wastes.
Translation: Unless the Heroes plan something besides getting across the wastes quickly, the process won't take lots of sessions.
Characters
I think I will play a Teshnan who loves the women, worships Vanesha Kan Sa and has not gotten a bath in way to long!
Wait just one minute...
Kirk, that was the character I wanted to play!
I would LOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE to play a Yelmalian Sun Domer.
Brian
Brian
If you really wnat to play the character I descibed there are a few things you should know...
He spent a year with people who tried to pry his head open with blow torches!
His amazing Teshnan tolerance level has amazingly dropped from "May I help you across the street", to "Street what street? All I see is RUBBLE and more RUBBLE!"
He has HUGE BUTT UGLY RITUAL SCARS on his head...did I mention he was tortured for a year?
How is he going to pick up Teshnan girls now? Oh the humanity!!!!
It is amazing where you can go with a character after the first time Mike says what are you interested in playing! I have only been playing for 8 or 9 months, I can't wait to see him become some bizarre A-sexual, abomination who is power hungry and rides a ZEBRA, for gods sake!
Re: Brian
child's play. Remember, you're talking to someone who plays a crazy 3ft tall person who only talks through various sock puppets and is covered in fur and has a DOS tag on him from the whole baboon kingdom.
Brian
death threats
Okay mister Baboon butt,
I want to be Senech's follower who's big skill is Darn socks(5W3), cut with scissors(3W2) and fashion sense(12).
He will be a deaf tailor's apprentice for 37 years (he is actually 46). He likes watching monkeys in the zoo and eats rock candy made by Mostali. He will be 6'-8" tall, weighs 123 pounds and sleeps sitting upright.
" I like Monkeys, but he smells funny".
