Typical Days
Here's a fun exercise, one that might have some use in-game too.
At your leisure, describe what your Rass characters' typical day is like. Down time, not adventuring, nothing on your immediate action item list.
(Senech has no such thing as typical, but feel free to give us an example of how he spends his time.)
Please keep in mind that anyone Devoted to a god or who is a Practitioner of a Tradition, has to spend a significant amount of time on duties related to those things. Initiates less so, but still. And don't forget multiple initiations or traditions!
In return, I'll write up the typical day of several of your followers: a nameless houseboy of the Rass, one of the Young Riders, a footsore believer in the Power of the Healing Will, and Booga Booga.
Today?
Upon awakening, Will-I-Am worships Pavis for all that is harmonious in the City and for the power of peace. He prays for guidance and understanding. On some days he dedicates himself to a particular cause or mission in the name of Pavis. For example: "Oh mighty Pavis. With gratitude, I begin a new day in The City (or The County). The sight of people working together brightens my eyes. The sound of their efforts cheers my ears. The smell of fresh air, laden with fragrances, grows in my nose. The touch of stone thrills my fingers. At the end of this day's labor, I wish to glorify your name as I feast with family and friends."
"Great Lord Pavis, hear my prayer. Today, I seek the bough of the Elven maiden named Peach Peach, in marriage. Guide your humble servant that I may bring your perfect city into greater harmony by starting to unite Rass and Garden. With stalwart companions at my side, just as you had yours, let me replay your role as husband to "The Eight" so that new life in the city is nurtured and protected. These things I do for Pavis!"
Then it's time for the breakfast table meeting and after that it's time to feast and go back to bed -just kidding.
Emergencies are the top priority. Healing those who arrive with injuries is often first on the list. If Anna is around he usually asks her about household news. Inducting new members into the "Power of the Healing Will" hero band involves a lecture on Pavis ways plus oaths of allegiance (while Will casts "know true motives") and placing their fingers within the skull mouth of Garn Gar Gate Guard. Assembling and conferring with heros of the house always takes place. At this time the previous evening's plans are tweeked so that the day's work can truly begin. This usually involves some sort of expedition.
Along the way, Will enlivens plants to grow better for the sake of the hungry citizens. Ocassionally he steps out from the parade or dismounts from his zebra for a minute in order to afix a broken bit of wall or to shift some precariously placed stonework into a more stable position plus magically cementing and holding it in place. When Will sees city workers he casts tireless labor so that they can double their efforts without strain.
On Pavis holy days and during unexpected down-time Will helps the priests at the temple. Although, now that he and Peach Peach have wed, Will wants to devote that spare time to her. We'll see how that plays out...
Serving the Goddess
Some things that keep Speth busy:
In order to maintain good standing with the Pavic Ernaldan temple, she makes herself available to them for ritual roles and requests (mundane vengeance requests from local devotees, NOT going to local weddings, etc). The amount of time varies with the season and number of requests by the locals.
She trains and instructs her initiates and Pilch. This is a combination of combat exercises, hunting in the rubble, brewing blood beer and rituals of pain and sacrifice at the Temple of Uncompromising Rage. This take anywhere from a few hours for a simple telling of a myth to a few days of intensive physical training in the plains outside the city walls.
She spends a few hours every morning and evening with her goddess by reciting the ritual incantations of hate and rage, drinking heavily from her cask of blood beer and tracing the runes of vengeance on her body with her axe. This is always done in private.
Every few days she scouts the surrounding area outside the Rass Manor for tracks or signs to see what folk or beasts are about.
A day in the life
Very interesting and not as easy as I assumed. I could write forever with specifics so I did it as a daily itinerary.
Oshun Daily doings...
Morning:
Morning prayers to the ancestors asking for blessings to the family, the cult, the warband, and the city.
Breakfast at the Manor with the Rass family - status update on Heroic projects
Post Breakfast meeting consult with the Young Riders
Confer with Jerrod about money issues
Tell Jerrod money issues have to wait as I have to deal with (insert Heroic quest/issue/subject here)
Mid Morning:
Cavalry training with War band (tactics, lancing/combat, mounted archery)
Noon:
Eat lunch
War Band group prayers to Ten-Lance the Brave, Joraz Kyrem and other Faithful Lancer's cults
War band status meeting
Mid Afternoon:
Go amongst War Band and do Khan-like stuff ("how's the family?" "Tighten up your wheeling" "No, the Avenging Daughter is not after your family jewels")
Prayers and self meditation
Sparring with Young Riders/War Band
Early Evening:
Long term planning (myself or with family, Young Riders, Jerrod etc) e.g. Make our own City Zebra Pen and oust Hargran the dirty? How to recruit more Faithful Lancers? What am I doing to become Khan? Khan of what?
Eat dinner.
Quality time with Family, Cult, War band
Evening:
Evening prayers thanking for blessings of making it through the day
Sleep
Wake up in middle of night wondering how can I become Khan
Back to sleep
Myths
All these weddings are taking up a lot of Will's time this particular Harmony week of Sea Season. Currently Will gives his three new wives instruction in Pavic traditions so they can be effective liaisons within the Power of the Healing Will. These three sister/wives experienced a critical understanding of Will's Promise of Paradise. Therefore, Will envisions a major role for them as shining examples for other Pavisites.
Will must also come up with an appropriate wedding gift for Oshun & Tiretha. Hmm...
Then it's all about Elven Brides (The Eight and the One).
