Hi guys,

I've grown impatient with the technical quality of phpBB. Since there's an extensive history of posts I want to keep, I had made my peace with it until recently.

What changed? I've discovered that there's a tool that migrates phpBB boards to drupal, a flexible, extensible, modern Content Management System for web sites.

At the moment I get a password error when trying to connect the current database to the new one for importing, so there's more or less nothing there. You can create an account, but when the import works your old account and password will be brought over.

Among the most straightforward advantages in Drupal is the ability to be notified by email when a post is made on the site. There are many other advantages as well. Drupal is what I use to run http://delaflamme.org hhttp://differentcomputers.com and http://www.people.virginia.edu/~jmd8q so I'm getting pretty good at running them.

Drupal has forums, main pages, group-edited books and blogs as part of its capability.

Also, I intend to use the new site as an example of what is possible for issaries.com, who really ought to take stewardship of the widely spread Glorantha, RQ and HQ discussions going on out on the web.

Just so you know. but I seek your imput as well.
